At Meadowview Family Dentistry, we believe that a positive experience during childhood will result in an adult who maintains their oral health and views dentistry in a positive way. Dr. Francis and her staff love working with children. We teach children the proper way to take care of their teeth; but just as important, they learn that going to the dentist can be fun!
Meadowview Family Dentistry is a general dental practice that provides preventive, restorative, and orthodontic care for children of all ages.
We provide the following services:
- Root Canals
- Space Maintainers
Why Are Baby Teeth Important?
Baby teeth are important because they help with proper chewing and eating, help in speech development and add to an attractive appearance. A child who can chew easily, speak clearly and smile confidently is a happier child. Healthy primary (or baby) teeth allow normal development of the jawbones and muscles, save space for the permanent (or adult) teeth and guide them into place. If a baby tooth is lost too soon, permanent teeth may come in crooked or in the wrong spot in the mouth.
What Should I Tell My Child about the First Dental Visit?
We suggest you prepare your child before entering the office just as you would before their first haircut or trip to the store. It is important that the child view a trip to the dentist as positive (this will not be the frightening experience you may remember from your childhood). It is important that you show your child that the dentist office is a fun place. Explain to your child that on their first appointment, they get to go for a ride in the chair, have their teeth counted and brushed with a special electric toothbrush, take pictures of their teeth, and get a prize! It is helpful to explain this to your child to ease any fears they may have about a new experience. Explain to your child that it is important to have a healthy mouth which is why you go to the dentist (REMEMBER: You set the best example!)
Meadowview Family Dentistry strives to provide quality dental care for all children. Dr. Francis and staff will evaluate your child for cavities, healthy gums, good brushing and flossing habits, proper space of teeth and jaw alignment. Depending on your child’s needs, Dr. Francis may recommend specific treatment. If you have a specific need or question, please do not hestitate to contact us at (423) 765-9303. We look forward to meeting you and your child!
